Get ready for a space mission adventure where little astronauts build, program, and play with robots and code. In this camp, students will learn the basics of programming with Scratch Junior, developing their understanding of engineering using Lego, and learning about the solar system through an exciting research project. They'll spend less than half of their time on screens, learning to code, and the rest developing their logical and creative skills using interactive robots, Lego, and creating their own art. Perfect for curious minds who love to tinker, create, and explore the universe.
Learning outcomes
Coding & Robotics
Learn to modify games, code collaboratively, and problem solve using block-based coding. Whether children are just taking the first steps on their coding journey, or have already started to work with tools like Scratch Jr, students will practise and develop a creative problem solving mindset using code. We'll have lots of fun programming different types of robots, learning all about inputs, outputs and how robots can sense things. We'll learn about the sorts of instructions robots do and do not understand.

Engineers
Budding little space tech heroes will tinker with technology in this fun filled STEM adventure. Using ScratchJr, they will create adorable interactive space games and bring friendly robot explorers to life, sending them on exciting mission quests across the galaxy. Perfect for curious young learners aged 4 to 6, this class builds early creativity, confidence, and problem solving through joyful hands on exploration of space and coding.
Information for parents
Whether your child is completely new to coding and robotics, or has completed a BlueShift camp or course before, this course is perfect for them!
Camp structure
First off we'll get to know our teacher and classmates through some great mini games. Once we're all friends, we'll be introduced to our activity for the day. Let's jump in to coding!
We'll have a short stretch and will begin our second activity. We might continue making our game or animation, especially, if we've spent some time planning our work with drawings and storyboards.
Now that we've had a healthy snack, we're ready to get right back into our third activity. We'll carry on flexing our creative muscles by designing, coding and building our projects.
Let's refocus after lunch and playtime by diving into building robots!
It's time to start our late afternoon activity. Usually we'll do something creative like digital art, practicing our digital skills by using the mouse to create art and animations.
Our last lesson of the day is an opportunity to finish up our work, recap on what we've learned today and tidy up ready for home time!
My favourite part was designing my own dinosaur!
